I'm the community engagement editor at local nonprofit news site the Rivard Report. We are currently accepting submissions for our Where I Live series.

The series aims to showcase our beautifully diverse city by spotlighting its many vibrant neighborhoods. Each week a local resident invites us over and lets us in on what makes their neighborhood special.

Of course, everyone’s story is different, but typically people tell us a bit about themselves and how they came to settle in their neighborhood. They recall special memories in their homes and neighborhoods, tell us about their favorite places around the neighborhood, perhaps communities they’ve found or friendships they’ve formed there, and even the challenges that come with living there.

Submissions should be 700-1000 words long, and a draft should be completed within two weeks of the date assigned. We will then set up a photo appointment for one of our photographers to take photos of the writer, their home, and the neighborhood.

We've been able to share a lot of great stories, but a couple of my favorites are this one on Los Angeles Heights and this one on Sherwood Forest. I'm hoping that you could help me spread the word to members of your neighborhood association who might be interested in sharing their own stories.

Let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information.
